Meet your Doctors
We’re three close friends connected by shared history, common values, and a desire to rethink primary care in Marin County. Dr. Mendoza and Dr. Pepper have known each other since childhood, as their families were once business partners and remain longtime friends. Dr. Pepper and Dr. Binstock met in medical school at the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program and spent many weekends and school breaks backpacking together in the Sierras. Dr. Mendoza and Dr. Binstock met as undergraduates at UCSB, reconnected a decade later at UCSF, and married shortly after completing their medical training. All three physicians live in the beautiful Fairfax-San Anselmo area.

Josh Pepper, MD, MS
Accepting new patients
Dr. Pepper is a second-generation family medicine physician with five generations of family roots in the Bay Area. He grew up in Marin and Fresno, where his family moved for his father’s medical training.
He studied Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley and is a proud alum of the UC Berkeley–UCSF Joint Medical Program, where his master's thesis mapped the relationship between air quality and asthma. He graduated from UCSF School of Medicine as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society and was selected to be a Pisacano Leadership Scholar, which recognizes future leaders in family medicine. He completed his residency training at UCSF, caring for an urban, underserved population at San Francisco General Hospital.
Following residency, Dr. Pepper worked as a hospitalist in the East Bay before transitioning to full-time primary care at Panoramic Medicine in Mill Valley, where he managed a panel of 2,500 patients and served as Medical Director.
Throughout Dr. Pepper’s career, he has remained deeply engaged in the Bay Area humanistic medicine movement—serving as UCSF faculty for the Healer's Art course and volunteering as a medical preceptor at UC Berkeley's student-run Suitcase Clinic.
At Marin Family Medicine, Dr. Pepper provides comprehensive primary care with particular interests in preventive medicine and office-based procedures. He is especially drawn to areas of medicine without clear-cut answers—such as reproductive health, addiction medicine, and palliative care—where the patient-provider relationship is central to care.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Pepper can usually be found in his garden, the kitchen, or hiking the trails of Mt. Tam and the High Sierra.

Her passions for food and community health were a natural pivot to the field of family medicine.
Dr. Mendoza is a graduate of the UCSF School of Medicine and the Lifelong Family Medicine Residency Program, a member of the UCSF Family Medicine Educational Alliance. Her training emphasized outpatient medicine, including pediatrics, women’s health and breastfeeding medicine. She has facilitated group medical visits around menopause health and holistic management of chronic disease, and served as a primary care doctor at the Tahoe Forest rural health clinic in Truckee, CA.
At Marin Family Medicine, Dr. Mendoza provides primary care with a particular interest in accompanying patients through transitions in life and health. Dr. Binstock is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. He is a Marin native and graduated from Redwood High School. He received his Medical Degree from UCSF and his Master's in Health Sciences through the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program. He completed his residency training at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, which is known for its full-spectrum, community-oriented, and procedurally rigorous family medicine training. He is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara with Highest Honors and Phi Beta Kappa.Dr. Binstock’s lifelong interests have centered on interdisciplinary and integrative health. His early work in environmental education, small-scale farming, and the study of herbalism and Ayurveda cultivated a deep appreciation for traditional healing systems. He draws from these approaches, alongside his biomedical training, to provide holistic care to each patient.
Before co-founding Marin Family Medicine, Dr. Binstock worked as a hospitalist in rural California settings, including Truckee and Fort Bragg, where he was often the only internist in the hospital. These experiences honed his broad clinical knowledge and procedural skills and shaped his current approach to practicing medicine, which prioritizes evidence-based therapies, partnership, presence and curiosity, and a deep respect for each patient's path toward health.
Dr. Binstock is thrilled to bring his wide-ranging medical expertise home to his community in Marin. He aims to provide relationship-based, preventive, and integrative care that bridges traditional and modern to promote healthful aging. He lives in San Anselmo with his family and feels honored to serve the community that shaped him.
